1. Whitewater Resort

Ski and Snowboard at Whitewater resort or tour around the surrounding areas. This area is well known for its amount of snow and the quality of the snow. On top of that, there is a welcoming community of avid skiers and snowboarders in the area that live to shred.

2. Cross Country Skiing

Cross Country skiing at the local areas. Now this is a great work out! Many people in the area are getting into cross country skiing for the quick take in of nature and the incredible work out. There are more and more places developing in Nelson, Castlegar and the surrounding areas.


3. Hotsprings

Ainsworth
Go to the local hot springs such as Ainsworth and the private areas. After you have been out playing hard all day your body will be crying out for a soak at the hot springs. Take in the beautiful view while relaxing your body and mind.

4. Snowshoeing

Go snowshoeing around the surrounding areas and appreciate the expansiveness on top of the snow covered peaks. Many school groups, families and friends love to hike up mountains with snowshoes and have lunch or even build a snow cave to spend the night in.


5. Camping


Camping along the lake in the summer. Appreciate the stillness and serenity of the glassy water of Slocan Lake, Kootenay Lake and Arrow lakes. Bring some friends, drive your car into some spectacular places and call it home for a short while.

Slacklining around the beautiful parks. Slacklining is becoming quite a popular sport. We see a lot of people setting up down at lake side park in the summer. Great place to slackline with friends then go hop in the lake.

Climbing or bouldering in the many areas around Nelson in the summer. During the summer days there are endless areas to explore on the rock! Climbing or bouldering at The Cube climbing gym in the winter. Nelson is super stoked to have a brand new climbing gym. Our community has been a huge support to make it happen.

Enjoy the vibrant downtown of Nelson including amazing restaurants, pubs, and coffee shops. As well as frequent art shows and concerts.
