“The perfect alpine backpack does exist!”

I recently had the opportunity to test out the new Deuter Speed-Lite Pro 25 backpack and I’m not kidding when I say it’s my new favourite backpack!
First, I brought it on a classic Squamish rainy day hike to Crooked Falls. This hike is 9km roundtrip and just shy of 500m of elevation gain. We hiked along the beautiful forest among giant moss-covered boulders until we reached the rushing waterfall. I loved the feel of the backpack and how easy it was to access treats for my dog or a snack on the go.
Next, I wore it for an after-work sunny hike up to Slhanay Peak in Squamish. This trail is all vert until you reach the top [or if you’re like us- just the side summit instead of the tippy top!]. The pack felt so lightweight- almost like a trail running vest!
They really did think of every little detail. If you’re someone like me, you tend to carry the 10 essentials, and then some, because you never know when that extra granola bar or jacket might come in handy. Luckily- with this backpack, you can still carry all that extra stuff, but it will feel as light as a feather! [Only 630 grams!] The mesh back makes it super comfy and distributes the weight evenly.
All the pockets = all the snacks
There are many pockets, all of which are easily accessible so you don’t have to decide between your phone, sunglasses, snacks, dog treats, or chapstick. You can have it all right there without having to take off your pack!

Safety First
Another feature I love about this pack is that there is a built-in safety guideline on the inside. I have never seen this on another backpack. It's a very smart feature that will come in handy for any adventure!

Eco-Friendly
Deuter also cares about the environment. This backpack is made from recycled synthetic fibers which require less CO2, less energy and crude oil compared to newly manufactured materials.

Fast & Light
It is also very handy for mountaineering. There are pole straps on the side, and you can also purchase a helmet strap as well. Perfect for going fast and light in the alpine! I can’t wait to test this out on some fun scrambles this summer.

Colours to Choose From
Lastly, as far as colours go, I’m obsessed with the green colour! The green is unisex. I’m 5’2” and it fits me well because of the adjustable straps. The women’s version is purple. There is also a unisex black colour.
All in all, I would highly recommend this backpack for any avid adventurer!
