Winter in the mountains is my happy place—storm days, sunrise laps, backcountry missions, you name it. Over the years, I’ve dialed in a kit that I trust completely whether I’m riding at the resort or heading out for splitboard days. These are pieces that have actually stood the test of time, kept me warm in every condition, and made long days on snow more comfortable and more fun.
Here are my top 5 gear picks for skiers and snowboarders.

1. Arc’teryx Sentinel Jacket & Pants
Five+ years of durability—and still going strong.
This set has been with me for over five years, and it’s still one of the best gear investments I’ve ever made. The Arc’teryx Sentinel jacket and pants are built with durability and weatherproofing in mind, ideal for both resort riding and backcountry touring. With well-placed vents, solid waterproofing, and functional pockets, they’ve kept me dry and comfortable in every condition.
As a woman, I personally prefer pants over bibs for practicality—but both options are fantastic depending on your style and comfort. These pieces are absolutely worth the price tag for anyone spending serious time on snow.

2. Arc’teryx Atom Hoody
The all-season, do-everything mid layer.
The Atom is one of my most-used layers year-round, and it’s my go-to mid layer for winter days in the mountains. Lightweight, packable, warm, and insanely comfortable, it fits easily under my shell without bulk and works just as well as a stand-alone piece on warmer or shoulder-season days.
It’s breathable enough for touring and cozy enough for cold chairlift rides—truly the definition of versatile.

3. Outdoor Research Mt. Baker Gloves
Ten years of loyalty—and nothing compares.
I’ve tried a lot of gloves, but the Outdoor Research Mount Baker Gloves continue to be my all-time favourite. I’ve been wearing them for over a decade and only replaced them once—even with heavy use. They’re incredibly durable, warm, and built to handle cold resort days, deep powder, and long tours alike.
With a removable liner, waterproof shell, and a design that stands up to harsh conditions, these gloves are a staple in my snowboard kit and always will be.

4. Smartwool Snowboard Socks
Warmth, comfort, and the right support for long days.
Cold feet are a quick way to ruin a day on the mountain, and the Smartwool Targeted Cushion Snowboard Over-the-Calf Socks are my secret weapon for staying warm. They’re specifically designed for snowboard boots with:
Targeted cushioning in high-impact zones
A snug, stay-put over-the-calf fit
Breathable, moisture-wicking merino
All-day comfort ideal for both resort riding and backcountry tours
They keep my feet warm without overheating and provide the perfect balance of support and flexibility. Easily one of the most underrated pieces of mountain gear.

5. Smith Optics Helmet & Goggles
Comfort, clarity, and a seamless fit that makes all the difference.
A helmet and goggle combo that works well together is seriously underrated—but with Smith Optics, everything just works. The fit is seamless, incredibly comfortable, and stays put whether I’m carving groomers or navigating storm laps.
The interchangeable lens system makes it easy to swap lenses for changing conditions, and the ChromaPop technology enhances contrast and terrain definition in a way you can actually feel. Flat light becomes clearer, colours pop, and terrain details stand out so you can ride with confidence from first chair to last.

Why These Picks Matter
The right ski and snowboard gear isn’t just about performance—it’s about comfort, confidence, and staying prepared for any conditions the mountain throws at you. These pieces have proven themselves through years of adventures, countless laps, and plenty of powder days. I trust them completely, and they’ve become the foundation of my winter setup.
